NEDJETTI HARVEY
Hair Me Out® Native New Yorker Nedjetti Harvey an Entrepreneur, L’Oreal Educator, Mentor and Spiritual Gardener Cosmetologist has been professionally making music with her creative fingers for 30+ years. As a 3rd generation Hair Artist, taught to braid and cornrow by her endearing and wise mother Shirley Pettigrew Harvey, Nedjetti has been passionately styling hair since age seven (fifty-one years).
Founder of Hair by Nedjetti LLC, Nedjetti is the Hair Artist, Producer, Artistic and Creative Director behind her successful 2006 Nedjetti's Natural Hair DVD Vol 1, the visionary of her Hair Me Out® online apparel and accessories store and the owner of Hair by Nedjetti Natural & Locs Salon in Bloomfield, New Jersey, celebrating over 30 years in business.
Nedjetti has dedicated her time as a 2021 NAHA hair competition judge "The most prestigious professional beauty competition in North America.", ‘Pave It Forward’ mentor to aspiring Cosmetologists and enjoys volunteering at Universities Natural Hair Cultural community events such as Columbia University, Saint Elizabeth University and Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
As a national L'Orèal platform Educator of over 10 years, Nedjetti is their lead Celebrity Natural Hair expert for six of Dark and Lovely 2013 Au Naturale DIY "how-to" videos, has written an approved Natural Hair curriculum for her CEA (Cosmetology Educators of America) Orlando, Florida platform presentation and L'Orèal USA made revisions to their Au Naturale product line based on Nedjetti's product testing feedback.

Nedjetti's hair art and hair care advice has been featured in over 50 hair, bridal and fashion magazines including ESSENCE, TIME, O MAGAZINE, ALLURE, SOPHISTICATES BLACK HAIR, PAPER, THE UNTITLED MAGAZINE, UPSCALE, DEMETRIOS, COLURES, PRESTIGE INTERNATIONAL, HYPE HAIR, BLACK BEAUTY and HAIR UK including twice in THE NEW YORK TIMES.
Nedjetti works with Jamaica’s musical royalty Bob Marley’s family for over ten years, grooming his grandson Skip Marley Locs since he was fifteen. Always a peace and love vibe, Nedjetti groomed Skip Marley’s Locs for his 2019 Slow Down featuring H.E.R music video filmed in the heart of Harlem, New York City.
Alongside Nedjetti’s talented peers, styling hair on a few memorable Film and Television shows has been rewarding experiences for Nedjetti including The Affair (season 2), The Good Wife (season 7), VH1 The Breaks and Law & Order SVU (season 16) and Finding Your Roots (season 3) to name a few.
Nedjetti worked as Dept Head Hair on 2011 film Red Hook Summer with the incomparable director, producer, professor and Oscar Award winner Spike Lee and Key Hair on 2014 film Sharknado 2 directed by Anthony C. Ferrante.
In 2011, for a breathtaking performance at The Jazz Lincoln Center for Don Giovanni with conductor Ivan Fischer, Nedjetti Key Hair to opera vocalists Laura Aikin, Myrto Papatanasiu and Sunhae Im. The cast was featured on the front page of The New York Times in The Arts Weekend section.
In 2004 at age 37, Nedjetti attended European Academy of Cosmetology in Union, New Jersey, graduating with honors 3.8 avg. Nedjetti took The Cosmetology State Board and became a New Jersey Cosmetologist is 2005. Nedjetti is also a New York State Cosmetologist. One of Nedjetti’s personal mantra quotes is, “Think it, Say it, Do it and God will do the rest.”
Yes, Nedjetti relishes in styling all hair types within the fashion, beauty, film, television and entertainment industry and with gratitude is noted as one of the Beauty Industry's leading and respected Natural Hair Care Gurus influencer. With twenty-five Blessed years and counting, Nedjetti passionate purpose is to educate, inspire and encourage women and children of the African Diaspora on the importance of embracing and celebrating our BeYOUtiful God given Coily and Curly Natural Hair!
Nedjetti's maternal grandmother Ruth P. Harris was also a Cosmetologist and paternal grandfather King Harvey, Sr. a Barber (Steve Harvey’s father Jesse Harvey and King Harvey Sr. were brothers and coal miners, Nedjetti and Steve are 2nd cousins).
Nedjetti has made HERstory, planting her family Hair Artistry legacy forever rooted with love, dedication and soul at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, DC.
In ‘Where Beauty Touches Me’ by Pamela Ferrell, at age 26 Nedjetti's photographed as a hair model adorned with African Goddess Braids. Nedjetti’s renown diamond shape Bantu Knots created in 1999 graces ESSENCE 2011 Hot Hair magazine cover as an insert photo, both magazines displayed in the same exhibit glass case for the world to witness.
